Student Honoured with Prestigious Coldstream Guards Award

Hammersmith Academy is proud to celebrate the outstanding achievement of Year 11 student Leonard, who has been recognised with a prestigious award at Hammersmith & Fulham’s annual Coldstream Guards Awards, honouring young people who have gone above and beyond in their school communities.

The awards, presented in partnership with the Coldstream Guards, Number 17 Company, recognise exceptional young people across the borough in categories including Academic Achievement, Overcoming Adversity, Sporting Achievement, and the Mayor’s Special Award. Students are nominated by their teachers and school staff in recognition of their dedication, resilience and contribution.

Leonard’s award is a reflection of his exceptional academic commitment and relentless pursuit of excellence. A consistently high-performing student, Leonard is known for his intellectual curiosity, precision and determination to achieve the very highest standards in everything he undertakes. He continually pushes beyond expectations, demonstrating a level of critical thinking and analytical ability often seen in students far beyond his years.

His teachers describe him as conscientious, thoughtful and deeply reflective, with the ability to articulate sophisticated arguments and insights with clarity and confidence. Alongside his own achievements, Leonard is also recognised for his willingness to support others, regularly helping his peers through collaboration and peer-to-peer learning.

The award was presented in a special Year 11 assembly at Hammersmith Academy on Friday 27th March 2026, by Cllr Daryl Brown and Major Rudy Vandaele-Kennedy of the Coldstream Guards, who attended in person to recognise Leonard’s achievements.

Headteacher Gary Kynaston said:

“Leonard is an exceptional student who embodies the very best of Hammersmith Academy. His commitment to excellence, intellectual curiosity and willingness to support others set him apart. We are incredibly proud to see him recognised with such a prestigious award, it is richly deserved.”

Leonard’s success reflects Hammersmith Academy’s focus on creating a culture of high aspiration, where students are supported and challenged to fulfil their potential and develop the skills and mindset required for real-world success.
